Roof Construction – Step by Step Process

At VU Construction, we build roofs with precision, attention to detail, and proven technical consistency. Here are the main steps in the construction of a standard pitched roof:

1. Structural Preparation

Inspection of load-bearing walls and construction of a reinforced concrete ring beam for stability.
Installation of the wooden structural framework (trusses, beams, purlins, rafters) in accordance with the architectural design.

2. Decking or Battens Installation

Laying of wooden decking or a batten structure, depending on the chosen roofing system.
Ensuring proper slope for effective water drainage.

3. Waterproofing

Installation of vapor barrier foil.
Installation of a breathable waterproofing membrane to prevent moisture and condensation from penetrating the structure.

4. Counter-Battens and Lath System

Mounting of counter-battens over the rafters to create a ventilation gap.
Installing the primary batten system for the tiles or other roofing material.

5. Roofing Material Installation

Placement of tiles (concrete, ceramic, or other).
Securing tiles with specialized clips or foam where necessary – especially in high-wind areas.

6. Flashings and Roof Details

Installation of valleys, dormers, chimney flashings, and ridge caps.
Mounting of fascia boards and dormer elements (if applicable).
Installation of snow stops, gutters, and drainage systems.

7. Final Inspection and Site Cleanup

Comprehensive inspection of all joints, slopes, and flashing details.
Full cleanup of the site and handover of the completed roof with warranty documentation.

We provide a warranty for all roofing works, the duration of which depends on the specific scope of work and materials used.
